The Chas Everitt International Property Group was the dream-child of founders Charles (Chas) and Tilla Everitt who started the company in 1980 and remain active in the Chas Everitt group and the real estate industry to this day. Opening their first office in Randburg, Gauteng, the organisation has since evolved into the Chas Everitt International Property Group, a true family business, where ethics and values are an integral part of the company's DNA.

The Chas Everitt International Property Group has a franchise in Polokwane, the rapidly expanding capital of Limpopo.


The franchise is located at 17 Ismini Avenue, Ismini Office Park, Hillary Drive, Bendor, Polokwane and owned by Sandra van der Merwe, a doyenne of the local real estate market, who recently converted her top-performing rental management agency to the new brand.


“The rationale behind the change,” she says, “is that the residential property market is expanding once more, especially in Polokwane, with a lot of the tenants we deal with, for example, now looking to buy their own homes.


“At the same time, a significant number of our landlords are keen to increase or upgrade their portfolios of investment properties, and we wanted to be able to assist both groups of prospective buyers. Joining Chas Everitt International allows us to work in both the residential and the rental sectors, instead of being restricted to rental property management.”


The group also offers brilliant business systems and a range of marketing platforms to facilitate the success of her expansion, Van der Merwe says, “but also has an outstanding, very accessible and transparent online system to enable the efficient management of our rental portfolio, which is still the backbone of our business.”


The main drivers of the current hot residential property market in Polokwane are the mining boom in the surrounding area as well as agriculture and tourism growth, she notes. “Most mining families prefer to live in the city with its good schools, health facilities, shopping centers and a variety of recreation options. The increased mining activity has also prompted many national companies to open regional offices here to supply the increased demand for their goods and services.

“Meanwhile, growth in the regional agriculture and tourism sectors has resulted in the establishment of quite a large number of new businesses, and the owners and employees of all these companies need accommodation.”


Rents for small inner-city flats, Van der Merwe says, range from around R2700 to R3500 a month, and these are popular with people who work in the city but go home to their families for weekends. Rentals for smaller family homes start at around R7500 a month, those for homes in security estates at around R9000 a month, and those for large suburban homes at around R10 000. Entry-level house prices start from R30 000.
